Goal

To act as the Senior Project Manager in the deployment of the new platform for the Nokia-Yahoo partnership to global Nokia-owned and colocation data centres.

Background

After successfully project managing the design and build of the new platform for the Nokia-Yahoo EigenForge was asked to act as the Senior Project Manager for the deployment of this platform to all global Nokia data centres, including the on-boarding of two new data centres (US West Coast, and Australia).

Execution

To co-ordinate the delivery of hardware from server and storage vendors, their deployment in Nokia data centres, and the deployment of the previously built bespoke operating system and virtualisation stack from RedHat. This required acting as the Senior Project Manager across other project managers in the individual infrastructure teams; and to track progress, fore-warn of and mitigate risks, and resolve issues.

Responsibilities included:

• co-ordinating across Nokia Infrastructure teams (Networks, Data Centre, Middleware, Storage)


• co-ordinating with Nokia Change Management to make a portion of a test environment available to Yahoo


• track the adoption and delivery of Nokia-Yahoo peering connections in key strategic cities and hosting hotels


• Drive the adoption of a new data centre on the US West Coast and Australia


• Ensuring delivery of the first test system on time to Yahoo (successful and on schedule)

The project was delivered on time to the client and its partner, Yahoo, for alpha testing.
