• the power densities that todays supercomputers demand (around 20kW per rack)
• Sufficient cooling capability for these systems, either air-cooling or water-cooling. This also includes floor-space layout to ensure hot aisle-cold aisle arrangements
• Access and Security
• Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS). All 'head-nodes' including 'login-nodes' must be on a UPS. For most clients this is sufficient but some clients also need the compute nodes within the supercomputing system to be on UPS, e.g. for those clients in finance who need to ensure calculations are completed within very strict time limits in handing over from financial centres.
